Introducing
Pour-over Coffee

taste.

If you’ve never had a cup of pour-over coffee before, you’re missing out on a great cup.

Today we'll focus on the physical and chemical processes that make up coffee brewing, starting with one of the most simple (and increasingly popular) methods: pourover.

WHY POURING IS DIFFERENT???

The pour over coffee method is arguably the ‘cleanest’ and ‘purest’ way to make and drink coffee.  There is no residue left in the cup, because the water is not dripped and is not fully immersed.  200 degree Fahrenheit water is poured into the cone, stirred briefly, and moments later the finished product has entirely drained into the cup.  The first time you try pourover coffee you may be taken aback, it is bold yet without even a hint of residue.

The resulting coffee  is bright, flavorful coffee that should highlight the best of the roast’s flavor without any of the bitterness.

Regular drip coffee makers don't evenly wet the coffee grounds, which leaves your coffee unevenly extracted. Hand-pouring the water offers you an easy, controlled method for ensuring even distribution.”

getting a tasty brew is all about stopping the brewing at the perfect moment

One of the big differences between pourover coffee and brewing coffee in a drip machine is that with pourover, you're able to clearly observe everything that's happening as you brew. Having a narrow-spout kettle helps maximize control, and direct water right where you want it to go.

Why Ethical
Coffee Matters

care.

At The Bean Café we offer Fair Trade coffees because we believe in the good that buying Fair Trade does.

Every time you drink a Fair Trade coffee from our shop, you help the communities from which our coffees were cultivated. Fair Trade products are made in safe and healthy working conditions, where farmers and producers receive a fair price and have a voice in how their workplace is run. Fair Trade supports sustainable practices that minimize our environmental footprint. And by working through cooperative structures, Fair Trade artisans and small farmers are able to invest Fair Trade earnings in their communities, improving housing, healthcare, and schools.

So enjoy that cup of coffee and know that you are making a difference in someone’s life.
